Honestly, for me the announcement of Timelines and the details that followed was kind of like hearing my favorite local taco stand is going to start offering yakisoba. I'm not sure I'll ever pick up this DLC even on sale. Combined with the tragically implemented "crisis" that came free with 7.0 it feels like Egosoft has lost the plot a little bit. Oh... and we won't even speak about ventures.

Keep at it, it gets better as you go. My only complaint... the music is repetitive as it never ends and never changes. Otherwise, great video.

I like the concept and the dlc self in most point. But the big negative is the quality. Even the story is weird is has a redline. Not like i start and do not finish.

Large ships REQUIRES trade drones, it's not even possible to trade without drones and ships doesn't always get trade drones, so a L ship without drones and without drones on the station can't trade at all.

Although the dlc is not meant for everyone the new ships and sectors in open universe were worth it for me I can build fleets of the new Terran fighter for low cost

I think you nailed it: Egosofts intention to use Timelines as a sort of introduction and training for new players was misguided. This problem was obvious soon after the release, since on Reddit new players asked desperately what to do in this or that scenario, completely confused, one even wanted to return the game, and it was clear that he ONLY had played Timelines and thought it would be needed for the rest of the game. He was very happy, when we told him just to stop Timelines, as his progress would be kept and use one of the game starts - he liked the game and had fun with it. I purchased Timelines, but never tried it or the new 7.x release, because every damned time the bring out a new release they 'adjust' everything, nothing is as it was with the previous release, and this even gets worse with higher releases. I hate it if anybody 'adjusts' or 'improves' (most of the time nerf) things in my running game. Bug fixes are nice, but if everything looks, feels and plays different, I will wait until the new things actually work (which they did not with 7.0) and if I have time and the motivation to start a new game. They added a lot of things nobody asked for, changed mechanics (boarding) and some of the new things did not even work. It will take 7.2 probably to make it good again, as it happened with 6.x. Until then I continue my running game with 6.2. That said - I installed 7.1 on my Notebook, just to have a look (I normally do not play on the Notebook), and I liked even the voices in the first minutes of Timelines. Not Witcher 3 for sure, but good enough.

I just wanted more lore and story, and I wanted to beable to control how the factions view each other. Timelines didn’t provide any of it. It just went over previous stories.

New player. Bought all DLCs in a steam bundle. So no experience without timelines. Tried the racing, etc once then went straight to the main game. I agree that the new stuff is too hard for new players such as me. Loving the main game, though. Like your content, its helped me figure stuff out. Cheers!

There are three things that I hate about X4, races, and space suit and be forced to use a ship that I will not choose or prepare for the mission like in Rebirth. I bought the DLC... it is the last time.

I could understand where people are coming from. I bought the DLC to support the Devs, I knew even before it came out that it wouldn't be my cup of tea. But to be honest I have had more fun than I expected. I hope they add a way for the community to submit challenge scenarios or even just continue to add more over time.

Weakest DLC and I don’t want to see something like this again. That said I did purchase it because I simply want Egosoft to continue to exist and build more on to X4.

Seems sound advice, I know the devs might read the comment so I'll add a bit more. I haven't bought this DLC because it didn't really add what I like, the whole new faction thing, new ships, new things to do in the open world. But once the next DLC comes out, i'll go buy that and this DLC so I have a complete game

Forgot to mention, Timelines comes with a brand new soundtrack from Alexei Zakharov! His music justified the price for me. It is disappointing in some aspects for sure but we did get some sweet goodies in the DLC. All in all. It's their weakest DLC and devs just missed the mark on what the community wanted. Still worth the price and I have no regrets. Still very excited for Egosoft and the future of X4!

Certain Timelines missions are almost impossible for me to do because of an extremely short mission timer. Two of the missions required the player to make 500 million Credits. I don't know how to even get there in a reasonable amount of time! I have a lot of savegames but only in two of them I'm at 500 mil or beyond and in these saves I run my own wharf. It took quite some time to get there with just trading. I hate battles. All the blueprints and resources cost a fortune. As I said, I hate battles and so all the fighting missions were pure annoyance to me and yes, I cheated just to get this sht done. The common denominator is that the player is forced to do things which he normally wouldn't do.

So if you are running a serious Industry setup, why not build a huge Hull Parts and Claytronics factory, to use then to build everything??

Okay so are you saying that your are fully covering the Borom Kingdom's end market with a solid spread of wears? Then Parking a Trade station at the front door to buy up all that production and then flip it to the rest of the factions??

Raising your MR will give you more mod capasity also

Been playing for ages. One thing I learned early on..NEVER sell mods for credits. Always for endo.. Making money is so easy in this game and in the end you dont need it that much when comapred to endo.. I'm MR34 and have basically everything in this game. Still I need endo. There are multiple ways of getting credits and guides for it and what setups you need. Otherwise very nice video. One thing I would say that early on people shouldn't max out any mods that are rank10. Very little gain for extreme amount of credits and endo.

I'm trying to do this in pontifex stations, but they don't have any ships at all flying around their stations. And i have -15. Don't know what else I can do.

It's probably worth noting that the more expensive the mod, the more capacity is returned if you have the corresponding affinity. In example, a max rank Prime Pressure Point will return more capacity than other mods like Scorch for instance, which have a much lower cost.

Simply exclaimed and easy to follow. It should help new players alot.

I just came back to the game and wow, X4 I think has finally reached a really good sweet spot, especially if you include all the DLCs. Egosoft also didn't fall behind on the graphics, which is key to the longevity of these older games. And X4 has had incredible longevity. Thx for the vid.

In energy production, each sector has a variance from the sun; some areas are better than others 100% being the standard sun output, and you may find others that are 700% with some at 70%.

Is this music from the game because It drives me up a wall. If it is luckily it’s changed now.

NIce one but how do you get the blueprints? I got the H the F the B but I don't know where are the blueprints as in my Wartf I can not build the B and the F?

I just bought this game a few days ago, I am slowly figuring out what to do ...I just made it to the space station last night.

For an end game crisis, I 'd love it if they implemented this like in Warhammer III Total war, in which there are sliders and a few options in how and how sever the crisis is to be inflicted....

If your doing the expedition don't end it until its finished as the rewards are good

There’s too much foliage in my opinion. Unless you’re on a hill, it’s near impossible to lay down flat building pieces or equipment without it disappearing into the long grass. (Flourishing and tropical worlds)

Okay ... Love your content as I chew through your various videos..... Question tho, how is the game even challenging when you have that many capital ships? Do you have a Mod on to beef up the Xenon threat ?? I'm just getting ready to build my own Ship Production and I'm feeling like I've won.... I roll playing from here on out.

I have over 500 hours in this game on steam and maybe 1 or 2 hundred hours prior to purchasing it on Steam via Gamepass. I learned the glitches which is handy when you want quick money etc and the glitches when creating a unique base. I often played it to unwind from work or life. The work theyve put into this game is remarkable. One huge positive I should say is that people have to try it in VR. I really need to do that again. My one or main issue with the game is whilst there seems to be lots to do, it is actually quite thin and quickly becomes boring. I find certain elements in the game childish. I dont want a pet nor do I want to cook crap and the exhibitions are mind numbing. Theres only so many tutorials to play!. I eventually picked up X4 for a less child like game only to come across Boso Ta. I seriously cant win😂 TLDR: Probably the best story arc of any game in history from where they started to where they are now. Many things to do until you do them and then it becomes a bit boring but its cheap as chips for what you get.

Love how version 1 looks. Still has some similar things, but overall it's definitely an improvement. Can't wait to check it out myself when I get time.
